Are you always trying to multitask? Are you exhausted and overwhelmed? Do you have to schedule things weeks in advance? Do you have a hard time focusing and enjoying the moment?
I'm guessing the answer to most of those questions is YES and don't worry, you're not alone!
What with our jobs, family, friends, pets and day to day pressures we all seem to be much busier than the previous generation.
And let's face it, it's easy to be busy. You can just stumble from one activity to the next, never really having to think too hard about what you really want and whether you are happy; you're like a robot just turning up and going through the motions. Many people go through life like this. But some don't.
Some take it upon themselves to actively change their own journey because they don't like the current destination they are heading in. Some are triggered to change their journey by an unforeseen emotional trauma in their life like the loss of somebody close to them or a significant health scare.
The important point is that it is possible to change your journey. It's about acting with intention rather than letting life carry us along on a trajectory we don't control.
You can break out of a routine, you can stop your unwanted habits and you can change your personal narrative. And the good news is that to start it just requires a bit of learning to change your behavior. You've learnt stuff before (remember High School) so you know you can do it again.
Often changing your journey in life starts with simply giving yourself permission to think about what you really want. Take some time off the treadmill to examine what works well for you and where you think changes would improve your quality of life. Talk to your partner and family about it, they know you better than you think and sometimes their reflections will surprise you.
Ask yourself are you turning up as the best you everyday? Are you improving the quality of your life and those around you? Are you fulfilling your dreams and achieving what matters most to you?
But do the thinking. If you end up back where you were then at least you know it's a conscious choice. BUT if you want to change the direction of your journey then REMEMBER you are in control of your own destiny.
